This easy to make Macaroni & Poha Vegetable Balls is an easy Party/Kitty starter which is perfect for this rainy season.
Actually anything fried will do. But I wanted to try something different from the usual pakoras and samosas.
If you love macaroni, you will love these too. Having said that I made these at a party last weekend and they were a hit. And its so easy to serve, everybody wants to grab a ball with some creamy sauce. And I can assure you that I have not added just sauce with Mayo; there is a lot to it||Find recipe here||
Directions to make Macaroni & Poha Vegetable Balls-
2 cups macaroni
3/4 cup poha
2 onions finely chopped
1 cup finely chopped veggies(I have used cabbage, capsicum, French beans)
Salt and pepper to taste
2tsp granulated sugar
1 cup or more bread crumbs
Cook the macaroni in a large pot with 3 times water filled. You will have to overcook the macaroni to make it a bit mushy.
Drain and keep aside.
Drain the poha under water and keep aside. Flat poha will do better in this case.
Heat a wok. Add butter. Add onions and saute for one min. Add the rest of veggies and cook untill soft. Add your seasoning and sugar as per taste.
This will make a sweet and spicy combo.😊
Add the macaroni and poha. Cook for a min and let it cool.
Now you need to smoothen the mixture either with your hands or with a masher.
Also mix cornflour in 1/2 cup water and mix well.
Make small balls with wet hands. Coat in cornflour slurry and then in bread crumbs(learn to make yout own) with alternate hands. Deep fry until golden brown.
Alternatively if you don’t have bread crumbs at hand make a thick flowing maida paste using water and season lightly. Coat the balls and fry directly. They will be light in color but equally tasty.
You can make the balls and crumb it ahead of time and keep in fridge if serving for party. Fry at the instant and serve hot. It’s the perfect finger food.
