How To Make Garlic BreadSticks At Home

Ever wondered how those yummy garlic breadsticks served with soup are made. Honestly it’s very easy.

This is a fairly easy recipe. Basically I was making pizzas and there was some leftover dough which I used to make these just as experiment whether I will be able to achieve what I want.

Basically I wanted to make bread sticks to go with soup; just like in restaurants. As the wheather has also taken a turn and what better than soup with some homemade sticks.

Is it bad to think that you can make a certain item(in this case bread sticks) at home rather than getting from store.

Really its so easy to make. Oh Gosh I really do that a lot, Oh I can make this myself and make it better.

Its so true that making your own will give you so much baking nirvana, lots if happy faces in family and friends asking “did you really make that” and  happy kids.

Its a basic bread recipe and I have used scraps for this so if you want to try this you might as well try the bread recipe which is such a beginners recipe. Also I have flavoured these with garlic and dried oregano but you can use any seasoning you like.
This recipe will make about 15-20 bread sticks as per the size you make them.

Directions to make garlic breadsticks-

Ingredients:

Basic White Bread Dough

1 cups APF/maida
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp granulated sugar
1/4 tsp instant yeast
1/4tsp milk powder
1/2 cup lukewarm water(less of more as required)
1/4tbsp oil

For garlic topping

2 tsp melted butter
1/4 tsp garlic powder

1/4 tsp dried oregano

Method:

Take all the dough ingredients and make a dough. Keep it in a oiled pan covered with a tea towel someplace warm for 90min or until dough is doubled.

Now combine the butter, garlic powder and oregano powder and keep aside.

Coming back to dough after it has doubled; punch it down. Make walnut size small balls. Start rolling in your hand lengthwise until it start resembling a bread stick. Thickness or thinness depends on your liking.

Place then carefully on the greased baking tray. Now brush the stick with our garlic butter generously. Bake for 7-10 mins in a preheated oven at 190°C.

Remove and let it cool on a wire rack. Serve with soup, pasta or just plain as it is. Its a great munching snack.

Enjoy!!
