How to make Shabeel, Kacchi Lassi

This post is dedicated to the recent celebrations on Guru Arjan Devji. A little background for the same-

Guru Arjan ([ɡʊru əɾdʒən]; 15 April 1563 – 30 May 1606)[1] was the first martyr of the Sikhfaith and the fifth of the ten Sikh Gurus, who compiled writings to create the eleventh, the living Guru, Guru Granth Sahib.

Shabeel, distribution of traditional sherbet, marks the custom of the Sikh community celebrating Shaheed Gurpurab where Guru Arjan Devji, the fifth Sikh Guru, stood by his convictions and accepted death with grace.

To help control the heat, chilled sherbets were served to people where they prayed and participated in a host of religious events. Sikhs gathered at Gurdwara Sath Sangath to commemorate Shaheed Gurpurab.

The day-long celebrations witnessed hundreds of Sikhs participating in events like ‘akhandpath’, prayers, kirtans apart from relishing glasses of sherbets and langar. (Source: weikpedia)
