thandai-masala

Always thought of making it but this year succeed and now regretting why I didnt try making this awesome Masala earlier.

Full disclosure, I discover Thandai only a few years back. It was a ready made pack and really loved it. But this homemade Masala is no comparison to anything; I can guarantee that.

I am sipping some of the Thandai milk that I made earlier using this Masala as I write this post.

Look at the gorgeous pastel hue and all the colors. The flavors are all completing each other. If you haven’t tried making yourself, please do. ?

A little about Holi; Holi is an Indian festival celebrated by the Hindus. Also known as the festival of colors. It is celebrated for the arrival of spring and marks the end of winters. It is also celebrated as thanks giving for a good harvest by doing puja and holika dahan. This day also marks the victory of good over evil.

Apart from this it’s a fun filled day where we play with colors, all come together as one and eat sweet treats, special drinks and food.

Thandai is one such drink made in Holi festival, packed with fruits, nuts and spices it’s very tasty and nutritious too.

Directions to make Thandai Masala-

Ingredients:

1/4 cup almond

1/4 cup cashew

1/4 cup pistachio

2 tbsp melon seeds

1 tbsp poppy seeds

2 tbsp rose petals

15-20 saffron strands

10 green cardamom

10-15 black peppercorn

Method:

Blend everything in the jar to a powder.

Store in an airtight container. Refrigeration is required for it to stay for longer period of time.

Use 2-3 tbsp to make Thandai milk, sweets, cake.

**make sure to not blend too much otherwise the natural oils in the nuts starts to release which starts to making a paste.

Powdery forms stays much longer.

But if you want to make a paste just soak all the ingredients in 1/2 glass water for 2-4 hours. Grind into a fine paste. Try to not add any extra water.

Paste is ready. Pls refrigerate for long time use.

Can’t make it now. Pin it here for later
