Mushroom Galouti Kabab | Vegetarian Party Starter

Succulent and delicious Mushroom Galouti Kabab; an easy vegetarian party starter is a delight to eat for vegetarians.

Now you can enjoy delicious kabab’s with few ingredients. These kababs are also rich in protein as they are made with mushrooms.


Mushrooms is rich in vitamin D and aids in weight loss too. As a kid never ate mushrooms and never liked them. But after marriage I discovered a new love for them. Although haven’t tried a lot of mushroom recipe but still experimenting one by one.


Please don’t get discouraged if your first batch doesn’t turn up as expected?. I assure you your second will be better as you get the hang of it.

My advice will be to make 1 or two at first. And then go for a bigger batch. A non stick utensil will surely help.


These kabab’s are so tender and juicy and jut disappear in seconds. So do savour some while cooking them in the kitchen only?.


Directions to make Mushroom Galouti Kabab-


200 gm mushroom heads washed and patted dry(what to do with the stocks-click here)

1 small boiled potatoes roughly chopped

50 gm paneer chopped(For homemade paneer/cottage cheese recipe-3 ways click here)

1 large red onion chopped

Salt & pepper as per taste

1 tbsp cumin powder

1 tbsp garam masala

1-2 tbsp garam flour/ besan


In a pan heat 2 tsp ghee. Saute the onions and mushrooms for few mins.

Now add potato and paneer.

Cover and cook till mushrooms are cooked.

Add salt & pepper.

Now add cumin powder and garam masala.

Let it cool.

Now in a chutney jar blend the mushroom mic into a fine paste. Mix in the besan or gram flour. Mix well.

Since it will be a sticky paste you will have to handle carefully. Over mixing will make it difficult to handle.

For frying the Kabab heat some oil in a non stick pan. Wait till it reaches medium heat.

*Please make sure the pan is not too hot.

Spoon a tbsp of mix and make small size kabab’s. Flip and cook on the other side too.

Each side 2 min of cook time on low heat is enough.

Serve with onion ring and coriander chutney.
